London: A group of thirty-somethings meet to celebrate a birthday. All seems normal. But in the aftermath of the July bombings, the city is crackling with tension - and after two years of trying, Claire and Anthony have still not conceived a child. To her husband's alarm, Claire finds herself increasingly drawn to a young girl, Nora, whom she is teaching to swim. Feeling her life spiralling out of control, Claire retraces the journey she has made since an accident ended her promising career as a ballet dancer in Berlin.
Zoë Jenny wurde 1974 in Basel geboren. 1997 erschien ihr erfolgreicher erster Roman "Das Blütenstaubzimmer", für den sie u.a. den "aspekte-Literaturpreis für das beste Prosadebüt des Jahres" und den "Preis der Jürgen-Ponto-Stiftung" erhielt. Darauf folgten die Romane Der Ruf des Muschelhorns (2000), Ein schnelles Leben (2002), Das Portrait (2007) und das Kinderbuch Mittelpünktchens Reise um die Welt (2001). The Sky is Changing ist ihr erster Roman, den sie in Englisch geschrieben hat. Seit 2003 lebt Zoë Jenny in London.
